There’s no shortage of task management apps for the Mac and iOS, but—if you’re not already wedded to OmniFocus or Things and need more than a basic todo list—Firetask is well worth a look. It combines the Getting Things Done approach and more ‘traditional’ stuff, like due dates and priorities, with cloud sync between iOS devices and the Mac.
Does what it says on the tin—send emails without the distraction of seeing your inbox.
I use a command line equivalent:

Freedom
Freedom is a simple productivity application that locks you away from the internet on Mac or Windows computers for up to eight hours at a time.
Freedom has been doing the rounds, thanks to a recent plug in The Economist.
But I know of an amazing hack, one that alpha geeks have been using for a while now. It achieves the same effect as Freedom. On all platforms. For free.
It involves hacking your hardware, so be sure to make a full backup and proceed with caution, especially if you’re not familiar with real-world gesture-based finger/button push-to-click interfaces (or RWGBF/BPtCIs, as Woz used to call them back in the Blue Box days).
Ready? Just follow these simple steps:
Turn off your router.
Turn it on again later.
Savvy iPhone and iPad 3G users can make their devices distraction-free without affecting their home network. Really. This hack takes advantage of a little-known feature of the iPhone OS that not only blocks WiFi and 3G internet access, but also ’phone calls and text messages, so you can really focus on the task at hand.
Turn Airplane Mode on.
Turn it off again later.
Wow.
No offence to Freedom and its users, but sometimes you don’t even need an application that does one thing well.
The idea of (10+2)*5 is to blast through tasks you’ve been putting off by spending an hour working hard in ten minute bursts, punctuated by two minute breaks. Tenplustwo simply chimes when it’s time to switch between work and play.
