id3shit is a commandline based id3 editor that sucks a little bit less than the alternatives. It can read, write and strip tags, rename files based on the metadata and that’s about it.
Unfortunately named, but very simple to use, eg.:
id3shit -w artist Prince
puddletag is an audio tag editor (primarily created) for GNU/Linux similar to the Windows program, Mp3tag. Unlike most taggers for GNU/Linux, it uses a spreadsheet-like layout so that all the tags you want to edit by hand are visible and easily editable. The usual tag editor features are supported like extracting tag information from filenames, renaming files based on their tags by using patterns and basic tag editing.

If you want to easily tag multiple MP3, Ogg/Vorbis, FLAC, MPC, MP4/AAC, MP2, Speex, TrueAudio, WavPack, WMA, WAV and AIFF files (e.g. full albums) without typing the same information again and again and have control over both ID3v1 and ID3v2 tags, then Kid3 is the program you are looking for.
The Tagger is an MP3 and AAC tagger for Mac OS X that combines powerful features with an easy-to-use, intuitive interface.

dagger is a small command-line utility for unix/linux written in Python which tags and renames audio-files. Currently supported formats are MP3 and OGG Vorbis.
