David Krauser {Sponsor}
An out of the ordinary sponsor this week. David Krauser is a young designer trying to make a name for himself, and facing the classic freelancer’s Catch 22: without a portfolio it’s hard to find work, and without work it’s hard to build a portfolio.
So, David has come up with a plan: he’ll work on three design projects for one week, for free!
If you’re reading this site, there’s a good chance David’s aesthetic will appeal—for want of a better word, he’s a minimalist—and he also takes a ‘one thing well’ approach to his work, focusing his attention on one project at a time, and using free and open source tools for design and development. And, having hit ‘view source’ on of a couple of his projects, I can confirm that he writes clean, concise, standards-compliant HTML and CSS.
You can see his work at his homepage or at Fosstithe.org, a new site where you can pledge to donate a percentage of your income to free and open source projects.
If you have a site that could do with a design refresh, want a unique theme for your weblog, or need a logo for your business, either fill out the form at dkra.us or send David an email in the next 24 hours. You can also follow @davidkrauser on Twitter, where he’ll be posting about the projects he takes on.
Editors note: of course, if you like David’s work, there’s nothing stopping you ignoring the special offer and hiring him.
