Reeder Readability

Like most folk who follow websites with RSS, I like a full text feed, but many publishers would rather my eyeballs landed on their site proper1, teasing me with a cryptic headline, a brief summary or (worst of all) an excerpt that cuts off in mid-sentence according to the whim of a content management system.

Reeder for Mac recently fixed this long-standing problem, offering to pre-fetch feed items and making sure they’re nicely-formatted with Readability.

To easily access the full text of a partial feed, you need to tweak a couple of prefs:

  1. Under Reading set Preload in background to Article with Readability
  2. Also under Reading set Click on article title to View with Readability
  3. Under Gestures set Pinch open and/or Pinch closed to Toggle Readability.

  1. If you want me to see ads, put them in a full text feed.
