Alfred, the excellent lightweight launcher for OS X, can now be extended with a £12 ‘Powerpack’ which adds file browsing, actions (see above) and an interface to iTunes. Future features include clipboard history and integration with third party apps, web services and the Address Book.

In other words, Alfred is starting to look like a viable replacement for Quicksilver.
