Smaller →
Smaller is a Graphic User Interface for YUI Compressor on the Mac. It helps you batch minify CSS and JavaScript files with a nice drag and drop interface. It’s a perfect tool for we Web designers and developers that are not big fans of command line.
Thanks, Patrick

Merry Christmas
Merry Christmas, everyone! If you’re celebrating, I hope you all have a lovely day.
I plan to spend the afternoon drunkenly installing Arch Linux (or, possibly, Linux Mint Debian) on my Christmas Eee PC 1018P. Very festive!

Edway is an interactive text-mode editor for audio files, in the style of ed, edbrowse, or the mainframe counterparts: fred, or qed. To edit an audio file, you might type something like this: edway filename.wav

Pinboard →
Yahoo! are shutting down del.icio.us, ending their careless stewardship of a once-great service.
If you’re still using the bookmarking service, I recommend jumping ship to Pinboard. It will happily import all your del.icio.us bookmarks, and works very much like del.icio.us used to, minus the social aspects. At the time of writing, signing up will set you back $71.

The programs listed here are provided as exhibitions of just how compressed a Linux ELF executable can be and still function. Take a look through /usr/bin: how big is the smallest ELF executable in there? Now try writing the smallest hello-world program you can. Can you get it under 1K? Can you get it under 100 bytes?

The Panic Museum →
Off topic, but I love the way Panic maintain an exhaustive archive of their software. I doubt there are many users out there running OS 9 and wondering if they should switch from SoundJam to Audion, but it’s good to see a software house keeping users of older hard- and software in mind.
